Emmanuel Reformed Church was established in 1877, and is located in the friendly town of Sutton, Nebraska. We are a congregation of the Reformed Church in the United States, a conservative Protestant denomination first organized in the 18th century. We have orderly worship services and enjoy fellowshipping with God and with one another around the preaching and teaching of God’s Word.
Here is a brief summary of our beliefs:
We believe in one God, revealed in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God created the universe and everything in it out of nothing in the span of six days, and He sustains and governs the created order by His almighty power, eternal counsel, and inscrutable providence.
We believe Jesus Christ is the divine and only begotten Son of God, the Lord of all creation and the only Savior of mankind. By His perfect obedience to God’s will, His death on the cross for our sins, His burial, His resurrection from the dead, and His ascension to glory, Christ has merited for us the forgiveness of sins, everlasting righteousness, and eternal life.
We believe the Bible is the divinely inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God, and our sufficient and ultimate authority in all questions of doctrine and life. Salvation is according to Scripture alone, by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone. In appreciation for His love to us in Christ, God expects us to live thankful and obedient lives.
We believe God causes all His elect people to persevere in true faith until the bodily appearance of Jesus Christ, who will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and who will make our mortal bodies like unto His glorified body. Thenceforth we shall reign with Him forever in the New Heavens and New Earth.
As a congregation and denomination, we have embraced as our confessional standards the Three Forms of Unity: the Belgic Confession of Faith, Heidelberg Catechism, and Canons of Dort. We believe these confessions are systematic and accurate explanations of Christian doctrine, yet subordinate to our highest authority, the Bible.
We sincerely invite to join our church all who in true repentance confess their sins and misery, who believe they are redeemed only by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and who desire to live lives of thankful obedience in appreciation for their salvation.
God bless you Joe, good to see this. Tell Joseph I said hi!
